Anthony Shagan

Anthony’s first portrait age 12

Background and Education

The only boy among five sisters, Anthony was born and raised in New York. At the very young age of five, Anthony knew that he wanted to be an artist. His childhood was spent constantly drawing. It was at the age of twelve that Anthony first attempted oil painting. He drew his earliest inspiration from the art of Leonardo Da Vinci. As an early teenager, Anthony would spend countless hours attempting to teach himself to emulate the beautiful craftsmanship of master painters. It was at this time that Anthony discovered his love for portraiture and he made the decision to become a portrait painter. After graduating high school, Anthony enrolled at the School of Visual arts. This is where he was taught him the invaluable painting methods used by master artists throughout the centuries.
